Barcelona – El Born and Bus Turístic

  1. Hip and trendy El Born
  2. Bus Turístic – Avoid the crowds

Hip and trendy El Born

Carrer de l’Argenteria

You can find a lot of hipster shops and cute boutiques in the trendy neighbourhood El Born. One of those streets is Carrer de l’Argenteria. This street is also full of very nice restaurants for lunch or dinner (try to find the less touristy and more hidden places).

Passeig del Born

Near to Carrer de l’Argenteria is the Passeig del Born (a square opposite the Mercat del Born): it’s a square with a lot of nice restaurants and bars! It caters to locals and tourists and has something to offer for everyone!

Bus Turístic – Avoid the crowds

During a citytrip you want to see a lot. Some of the highlights in Barcelona aren’t located close to each other, so the Bus Turístic (also known as the Hop On Hop Off Bus) is a great way to explore the city in a short time. When you’re on the bus, the audio tour will tell you more about the places you’re driving by. I always bring my own earphones.

The perfect route (blue line)

First stop: Park Guell (so don’t stop at Sagrada Familia first, because in the morning you’ll definitely end up in a queue!). Next stop is Camp Nou, the stadium of FC Barcelona (or you can stop in Garcia neighbourhood for lunch).

At 4 pm it’s time to take the blue route from Camp Nou to the famous Sagrada Familia. And at that time most of the queue disappeared (at 5 pm, I walked straight to the ticket office without waiting). If you don’t want to take the blue line again (it’s about 3 hours in total), you could take the metro from Sagrada Familia. If you’re visiting the highlights of Barcelona in this order, you probably don’t have to wait to enter and you can see a lot! Have fun!

NB: If you know exactly when you want to visit the Sagrada Familia, you could also choose to buy a ticket online for that specific date and time.

Tip: The audio tour in the Sagrada Familia will guide you through the church and the gardens and points out specific places you’d otherwise never seen. The audio tour really does make your visit more interesting, so please spend those extra euros on the audio guide app. Download the Sagrada Familia app on your phone before your visit and don’t forget to bring your earphones with you!
